Switches listed as a "Variant Link" require a special version of CT-Connect customized for that switch. See the CT-Connect Product Data Sheet or call for details.

CT-Connect supports most switches that have CTI links which comply with the ECMA CSTA specification, the only open standard for interconnecting computer and telephone systems. Call your switch vendor for more information about the availability of a CSTA-compatible CTI link on your favorite telephone system.

Telephone switch configurations vary widely even among systems with the same brand and model, and are customized for each installation. You must contact your telephone system supplier to determine what hardware and software upgrades are required to support a CTI link on your specific switch. The information in the table above should be sufficient to indicate to your supplier the features needed to support CT-Connect. Consulting services are available from the Synapse Group if you require further assistance in planning or installing CTI support on your telephone system.

The CTI functions supported by switches vary greatly, even among those which correctly support the CSTA standard. Regardless of the status of the switch in our listing, it is still a good idea for you to contact an unfamiliar switch vendor before starting your project. In this way, you can determine whether the functions required by your application are available on their equipment.

Special notes for switch vendors:

An additional software toolkit is available from Dialogic to assist you in building a CSTA-compatible CTI link for your telephone system under Microsoft® Windows NT®.

Dialogic is also offering a new software-based switch simulator that allows you to develop, test and demonstrate CTI applications without a physical telephone system. The CSTA Switch Simulator runs under Microsoft Windows NT and works with any CTI server that supports the CSTA Phase 2 protocol, including CT-Connect V3.0.
